The Reconnecting Grantham team have shared an update on the ongoing project taking place locally.

The Reconnecting Grantham project, which has been made possible by the generous funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is jumping from strength to strength this summer.

A spokesperson for the project said: "It's a very busy time for the whole team, we have so much happening at the moment. We have organised a series of engaging events that we believe will capture people's interest, ignite their sense of exploration, and strengthen our community bonds."

On 17 September at Londonthorpe Woods, the team have their annual Heritage Open Day.

This year, the team are starting the annual walk from Londonthorpe Woods to Bellmount Tower and connecting with the sites war time history with interactive skits from Grantham's Dramatic Society. At the end of the walk, attendees will be able to see the glorious view of Grantham from the top of Bellmount Tower.

The team continued: "We are thrilled to invite everyone to a captivating Photograph Exhibition, bringing together all the winners and runners up of the Reconnecting Grantham's Photography Competition. This incredible showcase will take place from the 8th to the 17th of September, at the Londonthorpe Woods. The photographs are being displayed around the easy access track.

"We know that both physical and mental wellbeing are important, so we are bringing back our Wellbeing Walks, starting on the 21st of September at 12pm, and continuing every other week thereafter. These walks will take you through the picturesque landscapes and hidden gems of Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount sites, offering the perfect opportunity to unwind, connect with nature, and embrace a healthy and active lifestyle. We warmly encourage individuals and community groups to join and explore the beauty that surrounds us."

Additionally, the team are delighted to announce an exciting Tree Identification Walk on 24 August, with an encore presentation on 3 September. These walks will take you on an immersive journey, unravelling the secrets of Londonthorpe Wood's diverse and impressive tree population.

They are also looking for volunteers to become Woodland Welcomers.

This role is a great chance for locals to meet new people and help the team protect Grantham's nature and wildlife. If you are interest look at more details online.

The group concluded: "Finally, we extend a heartfelt invitation to all community groups to join us for an introductory walk. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Reconnecting Grantham project, network with like-minded individuals, and explore upcoming collaborations. If your community group is interested in participating, please do not hesitate to get in touch – we cannot wait to welcome you on board!"
