A small veterinary practice may open within a major Grantham garden centre.

Mr S Baker of Metheringham has applied to create the business inside Belton Garden Centre on Grantham Road, Belton.

His application to South Kesteven District Council is to change the use of two ground floor rooms for use as a veterinary practice.

If approved, the 92m2 site would employ two full-time staff and four part-time staff in a business that would be independent to the garden centre.

It would operate from 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and no animals would be kept on the premises, which were previously used for retail.

The application added the proposed practice would not change the appearance of the building but would use an "existing building to create a service needed locally."
