Grantham publican Eddie Pimlott is looking forward to his and other pubs coming out of "this unknown nightmare."

Eddie, who has run the Nobody Inn on North Street for more than 20 years, was still digesting the details of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement.

Mr Johnson has said pubs can re-open on July 4 and with social distancing of a metre if other preventative measures are followed.

Mr Pimlott told Grantham Nub News that his award-winning and popular pub will be open on Saturday July 4.

He said: "Common sense will have to prevail among us as well as sensible precautions taken by everyone…

"Fortunately for myself we have plenty of doorways (using different doors for in and out) The pub also can also adopt a temporary one way system, so people can avoid crossing each others pathways..

"We have invested in automatic hand cleaning stations dotted around the pub for hand sanitising ….and staff will have the opportunity to wear face visors ( if they want to wear them)

He continued: "I'm sure that you know that we have been quite lucky with the covid 19 in the area, and that is totally down to the Grantham Peoples Behaviour … Well Done GRANTHAM!!!

"On the other hand, I think that this will be a thing for us to adapt to for the coming months…. There is a light at the end of the tunnel but we still need to be vigilant..

"Some will feel the situation is too early some too late!!…In my opinion the Government have had to deal with the unknown and who knows what will happen??

"As long as your nearest and dearest remain healthy and well then that's enough for me….

He added: "And with regards to pubs opening…

"If you don't like it or feel uncomfortable with it then stay at home!!! I do have a take away scheme for those that want the pub at home…. As you know."
