Woolsthorpe Manor, birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, has been named one of the UK's top 500 experiences by leading travel media company, Lonely Planet.
In the new ranked list of the most memorable, beautiful, surprising and compelling sights and experiences across Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, the National Trust property has been placed 384th.
Claire Gallon, Woolsthorpe Manor's senior marketing officer, says: "We are delighted to feature in the Lonely Planet's 'Ultimate United Kingdom Travel list' of the top 500 experiences in the UK.
"We are officially an unmissable experience and hidden gem!
"It's a fantastic acknowledgement for all the team, especially our volunteers who add so much to our visitors' enjoyment of Woolsthorpe.
"We rank at number 384: Unravel scientific wonders at Woolsthorpe Manor. We're one of four Lincolnshire sites to have been listed, the other being Lincoln Cathedral, The Viking Way and Burghley House.
"Lonely Planet are a huge international travel guide brand; their Twitter account alone has 6.3m followers.
"The accolade should help raise our profile internationally; as well as encouraging local people to make the trip to a hidden gem on their doorstep!"
This is the first time Lonely Planet's community of travel experts have chosen the best sights and experiences and ranked them in order in Lonely Planet's Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist.
The Woothshorpe Manor entry reads: "As the one-time home of Sir Isaac Newton, this 17th-century yeoman's house inspired some of the world's most groundbreaking discoveries.
"The big one was gravity: watching apples fall from a still-standing tree here is supposedly how Newton happened upon his theory.
"A window into the scientist's times as much as his life, this attraction's master stroke is a wonderful science centre, where you can experiment with gravity and organise stargazing sessions: apt, in the house of the man who explained the tides and solar system."
To create Lonely Planet's Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist, the Lonely Planet team compiled every highlight from the Lonely Planet guidebooks to Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Every sight, attraction and experience that had caught their writers' attention over the years were included.
Everyone in Lonely Planet's London office, plus 20 leading figures in the country's travel sector, were asked to reveal their favourite spots and experiences before the voting began.
Everybody in Lonely Planet's UK community was then asked to vote for their top 20 experiences.
With hundreds of votes cast, Lonely Planet ended up with a score for each of the 500 experiences in the book.
