Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman driver was seriously injured in a three-car collision on the northbound carriageway of the A1 at Great Gonerby yesterday (Thurs).

The incident happened opposite the Esso petrol station and caused significant traffic delays for many hours.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "The collision occurred at around 4.26pm and involved a silver Renault Clio, a Grand Jeep Cherokee and a Mercedes.

"The female driver of the Renault Clio was seriously injured and taken to Queen's Medical Centre.

"Officers worked tirelessly to deal with the collision, but were unable to open the road safely until 2.30am.

"A broken down HGV also required recovery.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have captured the collision on dash cam and would especially like to speak to the driver of an HGV that was travelling northbound, directly behind the road traffic collision when it occurred."
