What next for Grantham's Wyndham Park?

Local people are being invited to have their say on one of Grantham's finest community green spaces.

The consultation on award-winning Wyndham Park, which starts today (19 July), runs until 15 August and park owner South Kesteven District Council is keen to hear from everyone who uses it.

National Lottery Heritage funding of close to £1 million led to its restoration as a World War One memorial park. The project included the refurbishment of various buildings including the Memorial Arch, Memorial Shelter and old Ticket Office, as well as provision of a new Visitor Centre.

Other recent improvements include an outdoor gym, outdoor table tennis tables, pay per play model boats, and an extension to the car park. Picnic benches have also been installed thanks to a donation from the Rotary Club of Grantham.

SKDC is now keen to find out what people think of the park, how they use the facility and how it might be improved.

Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, Cabinet Member for Commercial and Operations, said: "Wyndham Park is one of our biggest success stories.

"The outdoor space it provides has been hugely important for people's health and wellbeing during lockdown and the park is now scheduled to host a number of Covid-secure events as restrictions are eased.

"We are proud of the range of activities and opportunities it provides, although we realise that improvements can always be made. By completing this survey and telling us what they think of Wyndham Park and how it might be improved, park users will help us to continue to provide a place that can be enjoyed by everyone, now and for generations to come."

Printed copies of the survey will also be available at the park's Visitor Centre.
