Village near Grantham set for fresh new store?
Village near Grantham set for fresh new store?

A village north of Grantham may have an all-new store if its owner gains planning permission to demolish the existing outlet.

Mr Balu Devabhai of Claypole Village Store at 60 Main Street, Claypole, seeks to demolish the existing single storey building and replace it with a new 1000 sq ft store with first floor accommodation.

The application to South Kesteven District Council said: "The development will integrate satisfactorily with the existing built form and will give rise to no adverse amenity impacts.

"The new facility will replace the existing convenience store and further enhance the built form of Main Street

"The proposed development represents an appropriate infilling within the built up part of Claypole. The development will re-inforce the existing pattern of frontage development along the street, and the proposed building will integrate with the existing built form."

Recommending approval, the application concluded: "There is demonstrably scope for the building to be designed to integrate with the existing style of dwellings, and will incorporate appropriate locally referenced materials. The development will not impact adversely upon the occupiers of neighbouring residential properties."
