Plans for a solar farm on land within the Belvoir Estate are moving forward, with a 'screening opinion' being sought from South Kesteven District Council.
The proposal at Muston aims to generate upto 49.MW of power- enough to supply 15,000 homes.
The Belvoir Solar Farm is at the pre-application stage and has undergone some public consultation, revealing some opposition to the scheme.
This month, JBM Solar has applied to South Kesteven District Council to 'Request for Screening Opinion' from the council, which determines how many reports the applicant will have to put together as part of the formal planning application process.
SKDC is being consulted as the planned site, which is in Leicestershire and south of the A52 Bottesford bypass, adjoins South Kesteven District.
The farm, which would cover 140ha of land, is opposed by the Barkestone, Plunga and Redmile Parish Council.
The council has written to applicant Andrew Cunningham saying the parish council opposes the scheme, due to its impact on the surrounding area, also noting their are proposals for another solar farm nearby.
The parish council also felt that public consultation was insufficient due to the pandemic making it more difficult.
