Grantham Police reported at least two arrests as part of their efforts to keep order as England enjoyed a glorious victory against Denmark last night.

Lincolnshire Police report 'low level incidents' as they stepped up their patrols across the county, following more than 50 violent incidents on the night of England's first UEFA cop game, which reduced to three for the second match.

PC Gary McCormack of Grantham Police was among the officers on patrol in Grantham last night.

He said on twitter: "Within 10 minutes of the football finishing we have two in custody in Grantham. One for failing to provide a specimen of breath and the other for driving whilst over the limit #policing #fatal4."

Early this morning, he added: "Female with a nasty head injury reported in the middle of the road in #Grantham overnight. See was detained under the Capacity Act and taken to A&E to get the treatment she needed, despite claiming to be fine. She was combative and abusive throughout #NotJustCrime #Policing"

Overall, Lincolnshire Police say they were called to fewer than 20 identified football-related incidents across the county following the match.

Although the figure is slightly higher compared to the previous England vs Ukraine match, police described the incidents reported last night as fairly low-level and less than what officers would see on a typical Wednesday evening.

Superintendent Pat Coates, Specialist Operations at Lincolnshire Police, said: "We are pleased to say that we saw very few football-related incidents last night following the England vs Denmark match.

"Although we did see increased pockets of low-level disorder incidents around the county, it was less than what we would normally see on a typical Wednesday night and fewer than last Tuesday's match. We are delighted that people are taking heed of our efforts and messaging that we will not tolerate violence during or following football matches.

Supt Coates continued: "We'd like to reiterate ahead of Sunday's match that we want people to enjoy the football but to please drink responsibly, to stay safe and follow social distancing guidelines.

"We will have more officers on patrol to maintain a visible presence before and after the match and we're grateful to the public of Lincolnshire who have been following our advice and our messaging.

"We wish England the very best of luck ahead of the match on Sunday!"

Those planning to watch the England vs Italy match final on Sunday are reminded to drink responsibly and to respect social distancing as per government guidelines.

Police add pubs and off-licences are reminded of their responsibility not to serve alcohol to people who are already intoxicated and premises hosting the final must also comply with Covid regulations. If they identify venues which are not complying with regulations, they say they will take action.

  • In an update, Lincolnshire Police told Nub News:

She has been bailed to appear at Lincoln District Magistrates' Court on the 22nd of July."

They added: "Incident 500 of yesterday's date is in relation to a traffic offence, which was committed on Springfield Road, Grantham. Officers stopped a vehicle after it had gone through a red light. The driver of the vehicle was asked to provide a roadside breath test and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the legal limit.
