A heartless thief stole a pensioner's purse containing a large amount of money...and a treasured photo of her late husband.

The 80-year-old was targeted in Grantham Sainsbury's store at about 11.35am on 10 December.

Investigations by Lincolnshire Police have so far failed to identify the purse snatcher and the force is now appealing for public help.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "Her purse contained a bank card, a large quantity of notes, and a couple of photographs - including one of her late husband.

"Approximately 10 minutes after the theft, an attempt was made to use the bank card at the Spar on Bridge End Road.

"Extensive CCTV enquiries have failed to identify the offender and so we are appealing to the public and asking for anyone with any information to come forward."
