St Wulfram's Church is pulling the plug on the hugely-popular artificial ice skating rink this Christmas.

The fun feature has been installed in the 14th century grade I listed church since 2015 as part of St Wulfram's Christmas celebrations.

But Rector Father Stuart Cradduck says it will not be returning this year.

Father Stuart, who took the church's Christmas festivities to the next level in 2017 when he added a 45ft long inflatable toboggan run inside the ancient building, shared the news in a letter announcing the launch of St Wulfram's third Christmas Tree Festival.

He writes: "Sadly, we are not having our famous 'Ice' Skating Rink this year but are planning something equally as wonderful to enhance what will be a remarkable and beautiful community festival."

Father Stuart declined to share details, of what he describes as 'a new significant addition' in the letter, with Grantham Nub News.

Next month St Wulfram's will again be hosting the Grantham CAMRA beer festival - Land of Hops and Glory.

The three-day festival was first held in 2016 and this year runs from Thursday, 17 to Saturday, 19 October from 12 noon until 11pm each day.

The 2019 beer festival is being touted as the biggest and best to date with 80 real ales and 30 real ciders and perries with a keg bar serving real ale.

Mead, gin and prosecco will also be available as will be food and live entertainment each evening.

Children and dogs are welcome and visitors can pick up a souvenir glass and programme.
