St Wulfram's Church in Grantham is to stage a special service in honour of the Duke of Edinburgh, following his sad death on Friday.

The Solemn High Mass of Requiem follows the church ringing the great Wulfram Bell 99 times on Friday at 6pm, once for each year of Prince Philip's life.

The requiem will take place on Thursday 15th April at 7:30pm, with the Rector of Grantham, Fr Stuart Cradduck as Celebrant.

The choir will sing the Requiem setting by Gabriel Fauré.

This service will be both in church and broadcast live on the Facebook page.

Fr Stuart told Nub News: "We're honoured to be able offer this requiem mass for HRH Prince Philip, prayer is central to all we do at St Wulfram's.

"Despite the choir not being able to sing until recently under Covid restrictions, we know this will be a beautiful service.

"Sadly we have a limit of 200 seats and they are offered on a first come basis. However people can watch online via our Facebook page."

On Friday, following the Duke's death, the church also posted on Facebook: "We send our love and prayers to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II following the news of her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh death.

"We will post formal arrangements of how you can mark this significant death in the life of our country as soon as possible."

"St Wulfram's is open for prayer everyday from 9am- 4pm."
