Around 1,500 people enjoyed a Spring Market in glorious sunshine at Wyndham Park in Grantham.

They were among 5,000 visiting the park on a busy Bank Holiday Monday – with another event already being planned for Sunday 4 July.

Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Culture and Visitor Economy, Cllr Rosemary Trollope-Bellew, said: "It was brilliant to see so many families enjoying their new-found freedom in the sunshine at what was the first in a series of craft markets at Wyndham Park this year.

"The Visitor Centre enjoyed record numbers and shop sales which shows how popular the Grantham park can be.

"We have received very positive feedback from traders and customers about the organisation, the location and placement of the market and the quality of the stalls."

There were around 25 different stalls selling handmade crafts - such as cards, jewellery, clothing and candles - as well as donuts, fudge and preserves.

The market was well-organised and followed Covid guidelines with a one-way system, hand sanitiser stations and stewards in place –with free parking available at Wyndham Park and also at SKDC's car parks throughout Grantham for the day.

Wyndham Park has undergone a £1m restoration thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant which kick-started an ambitious and engaging heritage restoration project to symbolise the dawn of a new era as a World War One Memorial Park.

It regularly attracts almost 1m visitors a year and is among almost 2,000 UK parks and green spaces to hold a prestigious Green Flag Award.
