The collection of household waste looks set to take place a day early for many over Christmas, as South Kesteven District Council reschedules times to account for the holidays.

Residents whose Black bin is normally collected on Monday 21 December will have it emptied on Saturday 19 December.

· The rest of next week will see bin collections a day early, with no collection on Christmas Day.

· Black bin collections normally made on Tuesday December 22 will now take place on Monday December 21.

· Black bin collections normally be made on Wednesday December 23 will now take place on Tuesday December 22.

· Black bin collections normally be made on Thursday December 24 will now take place on Wednesday December 23.

· Black bin collections normally be made on Friday December 25 will now take place on Thursday December 24.

· There will be no Silver bin collection on Monday 28 December.

· There will be no changes for Silver bin collections on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday December 29, 30 and 31.

· The Silver bin collection that would normally be on Friday 1 January will now take place on Saturday 2 January.

· Normal collections will start again on January 4.

The council asks householders to put bins out at the edge of their property by 7.30am on the morning of collection with bin handles facing the road.

Because of Covid, SKDC recommends washing hands before and after moving the bins, and then wiping the handles once they are back in place after emptying.

Personal waste (such as used tissues or disposable cleaning cloths) and PPE should be disposed of carefully. They should be stored securely inside rubbish bags which in turn should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. People are asked to put them aside for at least 72 hours before they go in a usual black wheelie bin.
