A man and woman have been sentenced after breaching an injunction that had an attached power of arrest, following ongoing anti-social behaviour and threats of violence that posed a significant risk of harm to South Kesteven District Council staff.

Kerry Askew (39) and Kane Nagg (28), of no fixed abode, appeared at Nottingham County Court where they admitted the breach after being detained in custody following a spate of complaints about them.

Nagg was sentenced to an immediate eight days in custody, with credit for time spent on remand in custody. A suspended custodial sentence from February 2020 was not activated but remains in force.

Askew was sentenced to an immediate 14 days in custody with credit given for time spent on remand in custody. She also received an eight-week sentence, suspended until 14 February 2021.

The injunction, designed to tackle repeated and ongoing anti-social behaviour and give offenders the opportunity to improve their behaviour, means Askew and Nagg should not:

• Act or incite to act in an anti-social manner likely to cause harrassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household, anywhere in Riverside, New Street, Manners Street, Shakespeare Avenue (all Grantham).

• Harass any officer, employee, servant or agent of SKDC or specific individuals by intimidation, physical attack, obstruction, causing disturbance by noise, or by taking money.

• Use or supply drugs at or from Riverside, New Street, Manners Street, Witham Place, Shakespeare Avenue, Grantham.

• Threaten any person with violence and/or be verbally abusive towards any person in Riverside, New Street, Manners Street, Witham Place, Shakespeare Avenue, Grantham.

• Use abusive, offensive, threatening or intimidating language or behaviour in Riverside, New Street, Manners Street, Witham Place, Shakespeare Avenue, Grantham.

• Persistently knock on neighbours' doors and/or ring doorbells or intercom systems, without reasonable excuse in Riverside, New Street, Manners Street, Witham Place, Grantham.

• Call at premises without prior permission of an occupier in Riverside, New Street, Manners Street, Witham Place, Shakespeare Avenue, Grantham.

• Do anything, including making a statement, whether by themselves or encouraging other people to do so, that is likely to intimidate named individuals

Enter designated areas of Grantham, Stamford and Bourne. The conditions will remain in force until December 1 2020 unless they are discharged or varied before that date. There is a power of arrest attached to the injunction which expires on the same date. SKDC Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Robert Reid, said: "This case shows we take the safety of our staff and other members of the community very seriously. "We are not prepared to tolerate anti-social behaviour, or circumstances in which our staff feel threatened. "My thanks go to everyone who has worked hard on this case to bring about a result that should act as a strong warning to others."
