Six-month suspended prison sentence for man carrying knife in Grantham town centre

A 39-year-old man has received a six-month suspended prison sentence for carrying a kitchen knife in Grantham town centre.

Benjamin Noddings, of Skells Court, Stamford, pleaded guilty to three charges when he appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Monday (9 Dec).

Noddings was committed to prison for six months, suspended for 18 months, for having a yellow kitchen knife in Westgate, Grantham, on 7 December.

In addition, he was ordered to undertake an accredited rehabilitation programme for 20 days and pay costs of £85.

Noddings was also charged with stealing alcohol, to the value of £100, from Hotel Chocolat in Stamford on 28 October, for which he was ordered to pay £100 compensation.

And for stealing a Christmas tree, worth £50, from Asda in Grantham, on 27 November, he was ordered to pay a further £50 compensation.
