Residents, their families and staff at Gregory House in Grantham celebrated national Care Home Open Day on Friday.

This year's theme was Celebrating Arts in Care and in the run-up to the day residents at the The Orders of St John Care Trust home were invited to to take part in a variety of arts and crafts workshops including painting classes, photography and the continuation of the Elder Tree writing project.

A popular and hugely successful activity was the glasswork sessions when crystals were sprinkled onto glass which was then cooled and given as a keepsake to each resident.

On Friday the art projects were unveiled for residents' families.

Anna Lewkowicz, home manager, said: "The weather was lovely and we were all able to sit outside and to engage in all the activities.

"The residents had a wonderful time listening to the music and drinking mocktails surrounded by their families who came to support, assist and view the exhibition."

The annual Care Home Open Day encourages care homes across the country to open their doors for a fun-filled event promoting interaction, experiences and creating memories for residents.
