Lincolnshire County Council is to partly refund post-16 home-to-school transport fees for part of the 2020/21 academic year.

Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell OBE, executive member for children's services, said: "The pandemic has caused significant disruption to school timetables over the last few months.

"So as a goodwill gesture, we will be refunding 40% of the payments that have been made to the council for post-16 home-to-school transport during the autumn term 2020 and spring term 2021.

"We'll also be offering the same discounted rate to those planning to pay for post-16 transport for the spring term 2021.

"We're sure this will be welcome news, especially given the financial difficulties many families are facing at this time."

Parents and care givers do not need to make an application to claim the money back. The county council will begin making payments in the New Year, and ask people to be patient at this busy time.

The discounted rate will not apply to the summer term 2021.

However, the council warns this refund does not apply to any parents/carers who have paid schools or educational establishments directly for transport.
