Pupils at Grantham school given coronavirus advice after Italy ski trip
Pupils at Grantham's Priory Ruskin Academy have been issued with coronavirus advice after returning from a half-term ski trip to Italy where 11 people have died from the illness.
A group of students from the academy took part in The Priory Federation of Academies Trust trip to Aprica in Lombardy - the northern Italy region at the heart of the country's coronavirus outbreak.
The Foreign & Commonwealth office today (Tues) updated its guidance about travelling to Italy to advise against all but essential travel to 10 small towns in Lombardy and one in Veneto which are on lockdown due to the virus.
The Grantham academy pupils have been informed of the latest Public Health England (PHE) guidelines - that if they develop symptoms, however mild, they should stay indoors at home, avoid contact with other people immediately and call NHS 111.
The Priory Ruskin Academy website states: "As you may be aware from today's [Tues] news reports, the British government has updated its advice to travellers who have returned from northern Italy since 19th February.
"This follows the identified outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lombardy and Veneto.
"Students from this academy were among those who took part in a Priory Federation ski trip to Aprica, Italy, and who arrived back in Lincolnshire on 22nd February.
"They have been informed of the latest guidelines.
"We will be following advice issued by Public Health England (PHE) at all times.
"We have also taken advice from Lincolnshire County Council in order to help allay any concerns people may have.
"The council, too, is advising that all schools and academies continue to follow PHE guidance."
