The Belvoir Knights will be entertaining the crowds with a thrilling jousting tournament full of skills, thrills and plenty of fun at the popular medieval weekend back at Belvoir Castle this summer for the first time in a decade.

A Knight's Quest at Belvoir Castle on June 1 and 2 travels back in time to the Middle Ages with jousting shows, japing jesters, birds of prey and even an authentic hog roast.

The weekend is inspired by historic events. The Earl of Rutland in 1612 was known to take part in regular fancy dress events featuring jousting and even hired a designer, one William Shakespeare!

Look out for Queen Elizabeth and King James popping back to Belvoir this June to enjoy the jousting as they did back in the day.

As well as cheering for their favourite knight to triumph or booing the black knight's antics, there is plenty more happening over the weekend with the chance to meet and greet the famous Belvoir birds of prey; have a go at archery and children's craft activities.

It's the first time the Knights of Nottingham have gone back to Belvoir in 10 years to perform their popular jousting show.

Visitors can expect a grand tournament between four opponents on horseback along with the Knight Marshall who tries to keep them in order.

Sir Federick of Flawforth, often found in the beer tent, adds a touch of comedy with each knight aiming to unhorse their opponent or fight on foot until a champion is declared.

Expect lots of audience participation and the chance to meet the knights and their horses after the last show each day. Two 40 minute shows take place each day.

Emma, Duchess of Rutland, said: "We're delighted to be welcoming the Knights back to Belvoir. It was always one of our most popular weekends and we're sure it will be again.

"The setting on the banks is stunning and provides a natural amphitheatre for all the action perfect for sitting back on a summer's day."

Tickets cost £20 per adult, £10 per child and £50 per family (2 adult and 3 children). Please note the castle will be open across the weekend but on a free flow basis only. No gardens only tickets are available and annual passes entry is excluded on this event.
