Two police officers and a lorry driver have been taken to hospital following a collision on the A1 south of Stamford earlier today.

Lincolnshire Police said this afternoon that staff were still at the scene of a collision on the dual carriageway involving two HGVs and a police vehicle reported at 11:23am this morning.

As a result, the A1 at Colsterworth was closed in both directions.

Two police officers have been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the second HGV has also been taken to hospital.

A police statement continued: "We are grateful for the patience of those who have been affected and ask that if you are able to, please avoid the area. The A1 southbound is likely to be closed for some time. The A1 northbound is re-opening shortly."
