Homes in a village near Grantham were evacuated earlier today over reports of a suspected unexpected bomb.

Lincolnshire Police said they were called to an address at Low Road, Barrowby.

A statement said: "The EOD will join us following a report that an unexploded bomb may have been discovered in a garden.

"Properties within 100 meters have been evacuated as a precaution."

However, just after 3pm, they further commented: "We can confirm that this is not an unexploded bomb and there is no risk to the public.

"The road closures are being removed and residents are able to return to their homes."
