Plans to build a major housing development in Grantham consisting of 250 new homes have been submitted to South Kesteven District Council.

According to documents from developer Bloor Homes, the new residential estate will be located on land south of Somerby Hill/Bridge End Road and will feature a broad mix of different property types to cater to diverse needs.

The breakdown includes 18 one-bedroom properties, 39 two-bedroom homes, 121 three-bedroom houses and 72 spacious four-bedroom spaces. Notably, 30% of these new dwellings are set to be designated as affordable housing.

"The proposed layout has carefully considered the site's setting and constraints to deliver a development that is well integrated into the wider natural and built surroundings," the developers wrote in their Design & Access Statement.

They continued: "A mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties make up the 250 total dwellings. The proposed mix offers a range of sizes and types of housing including maisonettes, terraced, semi-detached and detached properties.

"In addition, 30% affordable dwellings are also proposed which are then split into rented, shared ownerships and first homes."

In addition to the variety of housing options, the plans for this major development prioritise the natural beauty of the site. Proposals outline a commitment to preserving and enhancing the existing hedgerows and trees within and surrounding the site, seamlessly integrating the new homes into the environment.

On the northern edge of the development, plans focus on fostering community and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle. Publicly accessible green spaces are set to include a Local Equipped Area for Play (LEAP) and a Local Area for Play (LAP), both providing safe and engaging play areas for children.

The site's convenient location within walking or cycling distance to local services and facilities aim to make it an attractive proposition for future residents.

Key local amenities such as dental practices, shops on Bridge End Road, and St Anne's CE Primary School on Harrowby Road are all easily accessible from the development.
