The second in a series of unique events bringing together farming, art, science and the environment is being held in Caythorpe in March.

The event is organised by F.E.A.S.T. (Farming.Environment.Art.Sustainability.Tabled.), the brainchild of sisters Kate and Liz Genever, an artist and a scientist respectively and also both farmers.

Launched last year with a successful event in Uffington, near Stamford, Caythorpe and Frieston Village Hall will play host to a free two-day exhibition and an evening dinner, bringing people together over locally-sourced food to talk about sustainable farming, the environment and culture.

The Caythorpe event on Friday, 20 and Saturday, 21 March will feature two distinct elements:

- A free exhibition of professional artists' work relevant to the local landscape and F.E.A.S.T themes. Open across both days from 2pm to 4pm, the artists will be available to meet visitors and talk about their work. Complimentary tea and homemade cakes will be available.

- An evening dinner, on the Friday,offering great company, delicious food and an opportunity to develop discussions and a deeper understanding of sustainable farming and the environment. 'Provocations' from both the arts and science will stimulate a conversation involving all 25 guests at the table. The three-hour dinner will use locally-sourced ingredients, including surplus food that would otherwise be thrown away, to produce vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

The Friday dinner, with the theme Perma/Culture runs from 6pm to 9pm and costs £25 per person.

Kate Genever said: "We're interested in raising awareness about rural life in an artful way.

"These events offer a social atmosphere, delicious food and an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of inter-connected topics.

"We welcome guests with a wide range of interests, backgrounds and specialisms."

F.E.A.S.T is supported by InvestSK, South Kesteven District Council's economic growth and regeneration company, as part of the council's commitment to boosting the local arts offer.
