Man detained after armed police swoop on village near Grantham

Armed police swooped on a village near Grantham after shotguns and ammunition had been stolen in a burglary at a neighbouring village.

Officers with firearms were deployed to the area of Welby around 1.40 pm on Monday 31 August.

Lincolnshire Police said: "This is in relation to a burglary of a house in Ingoldsby the previous day where 2 shotguns and ammunition had been stolen.

"A VW Golf was recovered and a 30 year old man was arrested in Welby around 5.30 on Monday 31 August on suspicion of burglary and remains in custody."
