Inspirational workshops have been held at Grantham College in an effort to combat the effects of anxiety, low self-esteem and poor mental health.

Volunteers from Blesma, a charity for helping limbless veterans lead full and independent lives, delivered the sessions as part of the Making Generation R programme.

Blesma and The Drive Project combine to hold workshops in schools and colleges, with talks held by military veterans with disabilities.

The intention is to spread the message of overcoming adversity and becoming resilient.

Owain Ford, along with veterans David Ledger and Tom Penny, spoke about their experiences before asking students to participate in a range of written activities.

Lorna Hollands, the college's Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor invited the group to speak to students.

She said: "The workshop provided an interesting insight into the speaker's life experiences, challenges and journeys. The students were able to reflect on how the speakers overcame adversity and found new goals for the future.

"There was a clear message that we all have resilience."

The Making Generation R programme will be invited back to Grantham College in the new academic year.
