Local Elections 2021: "For me, the grind and struggle of earning a crust is real"

I grew up around Grantham having lived in Lincolnshire for most of my life. I joined the Labour Party in 2019 because of my experiences of civilian life after leaving the Royal Navy in 2015.
Lincolnshire is a county dominated by outdated Conservative Politics with little representation for alternative perspectives and young people; when elected my intention is to create more balance in the decision making at the County Council.
I have been largely self-employed since leaving the military and now operate a small business in the Visitor Economy Sector.
The last 12 months have been especially difficult having launched my business just prior to the Lockdown thus having only been open for 3 of the last 12 months and having been excluded from mainstream Government assistance.
For me, the grind and struggle of earning a crust is real and I want to ensure there is real support for small businesses in Lincolnshire especially those left behind.
I would like to see less privatisation in our Public Services especially in Children's and Social Services as I don't believe we can help the most vulnerable in society and make a profit from them.
We need better funding for Outpatient services IN Grantham so local facilities can continue to do the great work they do in ensuring Grantham is a Healthy place to live thus preventing unnecessary strain on our stretched Emergency Services following Years of Austerity.
The Policies of Austerity and Mass Privatisation of the past decade have failed people of my generation - Voting for a Team of Labour Councillors from Grantham to represent you at the County Council is the Turning point toward making where we live a better place to Grow-Up and Grow-Old in.
