A creative eight-year-old from Grantham has her eyes on the prize after winning a competition to design a pair of glasses.

Annie Speck, a winner of the national competition, was presented with a collection of Paddington Bear books and a fun model of her design at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care on High Street.

Youngsters were encouraged to submit their imaginative designs, with all proceeds from the £1 entry fee going to Alzheimer's Society.

Branch manager Simone Broomfield said: "Alzheimer's Society is our chosen charity for the eighth successive year. This was a fun way to engage children and raise awareness of the charity and its work. Annie did a great job with her design and is a very worthy winner!"

Annie lives locally and visits the Grantham branch for her annual eye test. Her mother Michelle said: "We were in the branch when Annie saw the competition and was excited to have a go as she really enjoys drawing and being creative. We're delighted that Annie won and she's really proud to see her colourful rainbow design come to life."

Family business Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care is celebrating its 85th anniversary having been established in 1938. It has 169 stores in England and Wales with 1,000 employees. For more information, visit www.scrivens.com.
