Cllr Colin Davie, executive councillor for economy and place, discusses the impact of the Green Masterplan on businesses

"Lincolnshire County Council has been at the forefront of climate change initiatives for almost a decade.

"As well as already reducing our own carbon emissions considerably, we've been helping businesses and communities do the same.

"We're now continuing this work as we launch our green master plan with three guiding principles:

Don't waste anything

What are the wider opportunities?

Take responsibility and pride

"We're here to help businesses in the county join us on the journey.

"Through our expert Business Lincolnshire advisors, we're offering grants and advice via our Resource Efficiency Programme.

"This helps county businesses to:

Understand what new technologies are available

Achieve environmental standards

Use eco technologies to reduce their costs and become more resilient to changes

Get grants for growth "And, through the rural Leader Programme, we've supported small businesses, farmers and community projects with things like new farming equipment and technology, heritage restoration, investment and carbon management amongst others. "But - its not just grants and advice though. "We have a number of centres and commercial spaces across the county for businesses to use – all which offer great opportunities for start-up and growing businesses. "We make sure these buildings are run efficiently - keeping running costs low for tenants. "And, with all out new infrastructure projects – such as the Food Enterprise Zone in Holbeach – we're incorporating technology to meet high environmental standards. "Finally for me, perhaps the most exciting, is our work with businesses across the visitor economy sector to grow thier "green tourism offer". "With an amazing natural coast, the AONB and the big skies of south Lincolnshire there is a vast offer for those wanting to holiday in Lincolnshire. "Many chose to come here for walking and cycling holidays too, so we have developed a number of cycling and walking routes for people to explore during their stay. "Times are exciting and we are here to help."
