Plans have been submitted for a scheme to build nine homes in a century-old Grantham garden.

Mr John Toole of Wroxall Drive seeks to build the three-bed terraces on a 1362m2 site, which has been a garden for the past 100 years.

The site is known as Walled Garden, and is on Westbourne Place, which is off Dysart Road.

His application to South Kesteven District Council says Westbourne Place is an unadopted 80 metre-long cul-de-sac on the west side of Grantham with vehicle access from Dysart Road and pedestrian access from Wroxall Drive.

"Westbourne Place is situated in a well-established residential area and currently has twelve terraced houses on the east side of the road," it said.

"The proposed development site is a walled garden with a 43 metre long frontage to the west side of Westbourne Place situated opposite the existing twelve terraced houses.

"The houses would have a redbrick finish with concrete tiled roofs to match the existing houses."

"Off-road parking would be provided for one vehicle to the front of each property. The off-road parking areas would be block paved."

The application also said: "The positive impacts would be an improvement of the road surface, a wider road and an improved outlook for the existing occupants.

"The road surface in Westbourne Place is in a very poor state and has a grass bank to the west side that restricts the road width to approximately 5 metres. The grass bank attracts rubbish and is overgrown.

"The proposed development would include removal of the grass bank, the removal of the 3.5 metre high wall and improving the road surface.

"The proposed houses would bring extra cars into Westbourne Place but these will have off-road parking," the application added.
