Seven homes have been approved for a village North of Grantham.

Newark-based Able Homes has received planning consent from South kesteven District council to build the houses on a 0.49ha site adjacent to 33 Church Street, Long Bennington.

The houses would be served by the existing driveway at number 33, which would be altered and extended.

The original application was four nine houses, but after complaints the scheme was 'overdevelopment' from Long Bennington Parish Council, and concerns from SKDC planning staff, the design was changed and numbers reduced to seven.

A report by SKDC planning staff says the council received 9 letters of objection from eight neighbours, whose comments included 'overdevelopment' of the site, adding bungalows would be more in keeping with the area.

However, the report said the house frontages of the scheme were designed to be sympathetic to the area. Therefore, the application met local and national planning policies and should be approved.
