Residents are being asked for their views on how South Kesteven District Council is planning to tackle climate change.
A four-week consultation exercise is under way on the Council's Climate Action Strategy, which sets out how SKDC plans to tackle climate change in line with the Government's target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The consultation offers residents, businesses and other stakeholders the chance to help shape the Council's approach to climate change.
Key to the strategy are three areas of focus:
- To continue to reduce carbon emissions from council activities
- To work in partnership with district-wide stakeholders to achieve net zero carbon
- To adapt to the impacts of climate change at a local level
Cllrs Patsy Ellis and Rhys Baker, who share SKDC Cabinet responsibilities for Environment and Waste, said: "As well as setting out the District's path to reducing carbon emissions, our strategy will play a key role in ensuring the district adapts well to the impacts of climate change.
"It is vital that we are prepared for extremes in temperature, such as those experienced in Lincolnshire during the heatwave of July 2022, when temperatures reached a record high of 40.3 degrees Celsius.
"We are keen to find out people's views on our proposals, and particularly what they think we should be concentrating on.
"We can then make sure that funding is directed towards projects and initiatives that are climate action priorities for our local communities.
"Completed projects will also deliver additional benefits such as addressing fuel poverty, improving air quality or improvements to the natural environment. Please use this opportunity to have your say."
Priority areas have been identified, including: the natural and built environments; transport; growing the green economy; power; communities; decision-making; and required resources.
The consultation asks for comments on climate priorities and runs until 7 August 2023.
