A new company has been launched by South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) to carry out grounds maintenance services previously provided by a private contractor.

SKDC says EnvironmentSK, a company wholly-owned by the district council, will generate income to help pay for some of its key priorities.

SKDC's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, explains: "Reductions in central government grants means making the most of the council's assets and knowledge to generate income is now hugely important.

"Council taxpayers will benefit by seeing a more flexible service providing better value for money, which will also secure an income to help us continue to provide other essential services for our communities."

Cllr Dr Moseley said EnvironmentSK was able to adapt to fast-changing circumstances and priorities and the company's experienced workforce offered a comprehensive service tailored to clients' specific needs, including grass cutting, shrub, hedge and border maintenance, planting schemes, general garden maintenance, sports pitch line marking, weed control and play area safety inspections.

Cllr Dr Moseley adds: "This is an exciting initiative for us and is another example of SKDC leading the way when it comes to the challenge of adapting to changing times and coming up with new ways of doing things.

"We know how important quality green spaces are for communities throughout the district and EnvironmentSK will ensure they are kept in the best possible condition.

"The company will provide a high quality, affordable service offering great value for money."

In addition to providing the council's grounds maintenance services, EnvironmentSK offers comprehensive quotes to private individuals and businesses.
