A busy children and parent group is to benefit from new experiences thanks to a £500 grant from
South Kesteven District Councillor Helen Goral. Fifty families are now involved with Grantham Disabled Children's Society (GDCS), which will use the money to privately hire play venues that help meet the children's needs. Cllr Goral said: "It's a real pleasure to be able to help GDCS families to engage in play. It helps the youngsters' development and also strengthens the parental support group." She chose the society to benefit from her Ward Member Grant money after engaging with thetrustees and hearing their plans.
Trustee Alison Telfer said: "Cllr Goral's grant has enabled us to open up opportunities for our children and we are targeting this money at swim sessions at the Urban Hotel.
"They have a private swimming pool there are this money will enable us to hire it twice a month for a few months while we fundraise for the rest of the year.
"This grant gives us breathing space, security, and to have fun with our children which other families take for granted."
