Grantham tip will be allowing cars with small trailers and accepting more waste types from Monday, 6 July.

And the Mowbeck Way household waste recycling centre - along with the 10 other Lincolnshire County Council sites - will now open five days from Friday to Tuesday.

Small trailers - 6ft x 4ft x1.5ft load depth - without greedy boards will be allowed on site on a Tuesday and Friday.

On a Monday and Tuesday, residents can bring black bagged general waste, plastics, plasterboard, mattresses, scrap metal, waste electricals such as washing machines, TVs, lightbulbs etc, batteries, household chemicals, mineral and cooking oils, gas cylinders and clothing.

On a Tuesday, they can also bring along bulky items like carpets and sofas.

On a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the tip will accept garden waste, paper and cardboard, glass, wood, soil, hardcore, scrap metals, waste electricals, batteries, household chemicals, mineral and cooking oils and gas cylinders and clothing.

Coun Eddy Poll, executive member for waste at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We'd like to thank the public for being so understanding as we've reopened this much needed service.

"Since opening, we've had over 50,000 bookings and have been overwhelmed by the positivity and kindness of our residents.

"That said, we know people have been wanting to bring bulky items and use their trailers - so we're delighted that from July 6 they will be able to on a Tuesday and Friday.

"We will continue to use our new booking system as it allows us to safely manage vehicles on site, and enables us to keep to the social distancing guidelines for both the public and our staff.

"We'd ask residents when making a booking, please just double check you select the right day for the right waste type."
