Junior swimmers from Grantham Swim Club travelled to Corby at the weekend to compete in the East Midlands Regional Championships and pulled off a stunning set of results.
Star of the meet was 13 year-old Callum Melville who won a medal in every event he competed in. Callum won gold in the 50,100 and 200 breaststroke, the 100m and 200m backstroke and the 200 and 400IM. In the 100m butterfly he claimed silver and the 50m butterfly bronze.
Callum, who attends Priory Belvoir High School, in Bottesford, was also crowned regional junior champion in all the events he won gold for and broke a Lincolnshire county record in the 200m back.
Connie Phillips, also 13, from Barkston, won gold in the 100m butterfly and silver in the 50 butterfly and was also crowned regional junior champion in the 100m fly.
Evie Turner, aged 13, from Barrowby, won silver in the 100m backstroke and her sister Grace won bronze in the 200m breastroke in the 11/12 year age group. Emily Parkins, 12, also won a bronze medal for the girls' 1500m freestyle.
There were fantastic swims from all the Grantham swimmers - Samuel Leveridge, Joshua Clarke, Ava Reed, Francesca Hallam-Stott, Holly Griffin and Thomas Thornton - many of them competing for the first time in such a big competition.
Congratulations to them all!
