A Grantham shoe shop will be re-opening next month as part of the nationwide re-opening of 'non-essential' retail.

Clark's at 57 High Street will return on Monday April 12 with social distancing measures and is welcoming people to book appointments.

The shop's Helen Danby said on social media: "For safe social distancing, we will be operating a closed door policy and will only be able to allow 2 families in our store at any one time.

"If you'd prefer to, please book an appointment on our website www.clarks.co.uk .

Due to restrictions, even if you have an appointment, sadly there may be a short wait."

Helen continued: "We require all customers, adults and children, who visit our store to use hand sanitiser which we're happy to provide, or you're more than welcome to use your own.

"The way in which we serve you may look and feel a little different than you're used to, please be patient whilst we re-adjust our ways of working.

"We will require all customers, adults and children, who wish to try anything on, including sandals, to wear either their own socks or disposable pop sox.

"We would prefer that any payments be made by card (maximum contactless transaction value £45) or Apple Pay (maximum transaction value £250) but we will be accepting cash payments to those who prefer to."

The store will have temporary new opening hours of Monday to Saturday from 9am till 5pm and closed on Sunday.

The store will also close for half an hour to allow staff to have a rest break. The timing of this will be dependent upon trade but will be somewhere between 12 noon and 2pm.

Helen added: "The health and well-being of our employees, customers and surrounding communities will remain our top priority throughout this journey.

"We appreciate your patience and cooperation whilst we manage the changes to our store and look forward to welcoming customers existing and new, back in our stores.

"For all enquiries, please call the store directly on 01476563244."
