An appeal to help a seven-year-old Grantham boy who has just months to live, has made nearly five times its target in just a few days.

Family friend Ian Shaw created the fundraiser on the Go Fund Me website over the weekend and now, almost £2,500 has been raised.

The money is to support Lucas Myers-Mascot and help him make the most of the rest of his life.

Ian told Grantham Nub News: "I'm a family friend and Lucas has had problems for the past three years. He had a scan in May and on June 2 the doctors said there was nothing more they could do."

"I had a word with his mum and I set up this Go Fund Me page. I want something to happen, get him what he wants, toys, etc."

Having being told he has 'months' to live, Lucas is receiving chemo at home to try and slow the brain cancer down.

Ian said on his appeal: "Please everybody PLEASE donate whatever you can afford no matter how small. Let's ALL make his last months the best days of his life and let's buy him whatever consoles / toys that all children love. If anyone deserves the best it's Lucas."

Ian says the appeal has gone really well, with £1,000 raised in the first day and now it is approaching £2,500.

The Go Fund Me page for Lucas can also be found here.
