A 13-year-old girl was reported sexually assaulted in a popular Grantham Park.

Lincolnshire Police are investigating the incident, which is reported to have happened last Friday, April 24, at around 4.30pm.

They are appealing for information concerning the incident which reportedly happened near to the top of the park between Riverside and Sandon Road.

A police statement said: "The young girl reported walking along Riverside towards the area known as the Cow Field, which leads to Sandon Road, and went past the gate which divides the two fields.

"It was at this location she reported being approached from behind by a man on a bike who asked her for the time. He then sexually assaulted her before cycling off towards Wyndham Park.

"The man is described as approximately early 20's, having brown short hair, stubble. He is of medium build and approximately 5' 9" tall. He was wearing a dark T shirt, black coat/jacket, blue jeans and was carrying a grey back pack. We do not have details of the bike at this stage.

"Our officers are paying extra attention to this area of Grantham but we believe this is an isolated case and we have not had any further reports. We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around 4.30 on Friday 24th April who may have seen the man on the bike and also anyone who thinks they may know who he is."

Their statement added: "If you have any information that will help our inquiry then please get in touch. The information you have may not seem relevant in isolation but it could be a piece of information that will assist our investigation greatly.
