Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles has resigned his membership of the local constituency Conservative Association.
He said: "I am not willing to do what would be necessary to restore a reasonable working relationship with a group of people whose values and views are so much at odds with my own."
In a letter to the association he says that in the last few months a division had opened up between himself and the members of the association executive, who backed a 'no-deal Brexit'.
Boles has consistently supported every Brexit deal proposed by the Prime Minister, Theresa May.
He said: "I am certain that crashing out of the EU without a deal would do great harm to the British public and have done everything in my power to prevent it."
However Boles has not resigned the Conservative Whip in the House of Commons. He will remain Grantham and Stamford MP until the next general election, when the local Conservative Association will be free to select its own candidate.
Boles would then be able to represent the Conservative Party as a candidate in another constituency, if the opportunity arose.
