Grantham MP Gareth Davies has visited a specialist town business with a nationwide reputation.

Founded in 1997, Skillington Workshop is one of the UK's leading architectural and sculptural conservation firms.

From their base in Grantham, they have worked on local historical sites such as Burghley House as well as taking on major commissions during the restorations on St. Albans Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.

Altogether, the company employs 25.

The MP says he was lucky to have the opportunity to step back in time while visiting their workshop to view a spectacular Roman mosaic.

He was also able to hear about the impact a recent £10,000 grant from the Government's Culture Recovery Fund has had on their work.

A statement posted on the MP's website added: "Our historic homes and monuments are nothing without the skilled craftsmen needed to maintain them for the future and so we should be proud that Grantham is home to some of the very best!"
