London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has today (Thursday 19 August 2021) launched a Seat Sale with thousands of tickets available from as little as £5.

Just last week LNER made tickets available for as far ahead as the Christmas and New Year period in response to demand for people wishing to plan ahead.

LNER is making 200,000 bargain fares available for travel between 6 September and 15 October 2021 on routes connecting Scotland, North East England, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and London.

The fares range from £5 for a single journey between destinations such as London King's Cross and Peterborough, Durham and York and Edinburgh and Berwick.

£10 fares are available for single journeys between Leeds and London King's Cross in Standard or £25 in First Class to just £20 for a single journey between London King's Cross and Edinburgh in Standard or £40 in First Class.

"Our Sensational Seat Sale offers incredible value fares on some of LNER's most popular routes so people can enjoy some of the fantastic destinations on our route.

"Our services are consistently above 90 per cent of pre-Covid levels as we see more people returning to the railway to travel. We continue to monitor demand and this latest offer, combined with making tickets available for Christmas and New Year travel, are just some of the ways we're welcoming people back to LNER and enjoy all we have to offer."

LNER says York, Newcastle and Edinburgh are proving to be amongst the most popular destinations for those booking and traveling with it.

Since April 2021 over four million journeys have been enjoyed with LNER, more than the total number of journeys completed for the previous 12 months combined.

Journey searches on the LNER website have also seen an increase of 11 per cent compared with July as people increasingly plan and book ahead. There have been more than 750,000 journey searches on the LNER website since lockdown easing on 19th July 2021.

The LNER Seat Sale covers travel dates when there is typically more availability across September and early October. Advance tickets offer incredible value and include a seat reservation to ensure customers can book in confidence knowing they'll have the comfort of a seat for the duration of their journey.

LNER's Covid Secure pledge sees an extensive and enhanced cleaning programme at LNER-managed stations and onboard the fleet of trains. LNER says it has committed to maintaining these record levels of cleaning.

Customers are also promised a 'legendary customer experience' when travelling with LNER. From freshly prepared hot and cold sandwiches, with a range of refreshments including hot and cold drinks and sweet and savoury snacks in First Class, to hot and cold meal deals, snacks and more in Standard.

Customers can visit the onboard Cafe Bar or have items delivered direct to their seat by scanning the QR code using the innovative 'Eat At Your Seat' innovation on all smartphones.

The Seat Sale is live on the LNER website and app from today until 9am on September 1.
