A Grantham group is among a fresh community grant recipients.

South Kesteven District Council's Community Fund has just allocated more than £30,000 to community projects in its latest funding round.

Ten successful applications ranged from a nature trail, sports facilities, a heritage festival and an artwork project to support mental health.

Councillor Annie Mason, Cabinet Member for People and Safer Communities, said: "Once again we have been able to fund an amazing range of grass roots projects and help those people and organisations who put in so much for their communities. I am delighted that we can be there to help and it shows just how valuable our Community Fund is."

Deepings Lions have secured £1,000 to buy two outdoor garden benches wards for a sensory project at the Deepings Community Centre, where charity Sense is helping those living with complex disabilities or who are deafblind. The garden will be shared with those who are able bodied and provides a focal point to enhance social understanding, integration and to help to avoid isolation.

Greatford Village Hall can now replace old metal windows, wooden doors, rotten sills and refurbish its main hall floor, thanks to a 5,000 grant towards the second stage of its refurbishment project.

In Colsterworth, a £2,720 grant will improve a nature trail on an old railway line by installing safe and secure steps at the Bridge End entrance and additional rails either side of the bridge at the west end.

Carlby Playing Field can now install a combined climbing frame and slide on the children's play area thanks to a grant of £5,000.

Dimension Skatepark in Bourne is a step further towards its major project to create a new concrete multi-wheeled sports facility within the Abbey Lawn thanks to a £5,000 grant, to be paid when all remaining outstanding funding is in place. The council grant will cover ground works costs plus a new step and handrail to the gated area.

In Market Deeping, a £3,267 grant will allow Our Forest Garden to buy and install a poly-tunnel, timber for planting beds, gardening tools and equipment. Its community allotment and woodland site behind Swines Meadow Plant Nursery helps with social isolation through multi-agency referrals, promotes physical movement and exercise through all activities and offers opportunities to learn and develop new skills.

Sedgebrook's recreation ground children's play area is to receive £2,956 towards improvements after a successful application by Sedgebrook Parish Council. The funding will install Round Top Picket Fencing around the play area, a pedestrian gate and another for mower access.

Refurbishment of St Andrews Church in West Deeping has been boosted by a £2,000 grant to purchase 10 tables and 40 chairs for the accessible community space. The church has 12 groups regularly using the church for community activities and meetings.

Aveland History Group has secured £2,000 to stage an educational and engaging heritage festival in Folkingham. It will include exhibitions, re-enactments on an historic area of the village not normally open to the public, "have a go" demonstrations, games, guided walks and local history. The group covers the area of the ancient Aveland Wapentake

Grantham Arts has secured £1,164 towards buying easels, MDF and arts materials for Wholeness and Wellbeing workshops. Craft and art-based activities including ceramics, print making, drawing and painting will benefit individuals referred in to support mental health and general wellbeing needs.
