Making the most of your garden this summer?

As the weather improves again, SKDC can help give you more time in the garden by taking garden waste away for you in a hassle-free service.

SKDC will collect your hedge trimmings, leaves, grass cuttings, plants and weeds from your doorstep every two weeks.

The Garden Waste Collection Service allows South Kesteven residents to recycle even more of their waste, and it's never too late to join – or apply for an additional bin if one isn't enough.

Cabinet Member for Commercial and Operations, Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, said: "Gardening has taken on real importance for people during the pandemic and this is shown through an increased uptake of our garden waste collection service, with more than 31,000 households signing up so far.

"It saves the time and trouble of trips to the tip or messing up the car with bags of garden waste.

"It is easier than ever to join - by paying online through direct debit. This way you'll save money on the regular price. Simply visit www.southkesteven.gov.uk/greenbin to join the scheme."

Residents can also compost at home, to reduce the waste going into their bin. Composting is an inexpensive, natural process that transforms garden waste into a valuable and nutrient-rich food for the garden. Visit www.getcomposting.com for information on purchasing home composters.

The Garden Waste Collection Service is for domestic properties. If you are a business and require your trade waste to be collected, please contact 01476 406315 or 07813 549471 for a competitive quote.
