A Grantham pet grooming parlour cannot be converted into two flats, planners have decided.
Tracey Doughty applied to South Kesteven District Council to undertake the conversion at 163 Dysart Road.
The application said the single-storey building is currently in use as a dog and cat grooming / microchipping business.
However, despite the application incorrectly saying the current owners are retiring due to reduced business levels, Tracey has this afternoon contacted Nub News to say that she is not retiring and the business is actually relocating to a new site elsewhere on Dysart Road.
The flats would have been one-bed of 31m2 and 29m2 size, with a small area of outdoor amenity space at the western side of the house.
A report by council planning staff said SKDC received no comments from nearby residents when the application was advertised.
However, the existing use as a dog grooming parlour does not "fall within the permitted uses for which a change of use to Class C3 (dwellinghouses)" is allowed under planning regulations, they noted. Therefore, the application was refused.
