Grantham councillor slams "sneaky and undemocratic" ULHT

A Grantham councillor and hospital campaigner has slammed the operators of Grantham Hospital as "sneaky and undemocratic."

The attack comes as the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust gave just a few days for the public to comment on changes at Grantham Hospital.

Local media were only informed of the issue late on Friday, which Nub News duly reported on Saturday morning.

The deadline for comments is tomorrow lunchtime.

Grantham councillor Ray Wootten told Nub News: "Disappointed is the polite word that I would use on the fact that ULHT have called an extraordinary board meeting on the 16th March and are asking residents their views on the future of Grantham Hospital and that only views given by midday 9th March 2021 will count.

"What does the Trust think about our views if they only give a few days to get them in. Additionally what if you do not have access to the internet?"

Coun Wootten continued: "Luckily I saw the post on Fighting 4 Grantham Hospital and Grantham Nub News otherwise I would have missed it.

"The board meeting has been called for the same time and day as the meeting of the Lincolnshire Health Scrutiny Committee which I sit on.

"There is a list of objectives and not enough time to get views in, now that is sneaky and undemocratic."

As Nub News also reported on Saturday, the proposals are being analysed by the SOSGranthamHospital campaign group, who fear some of the changes.
