Grantham area GCSE pupils to receive results today
With exams cancelled because of the pandemic, it will be a very different results day for GCSE pupils this year.
Because of the disruption caused by coronavirus, pupils have this year been given grades by their teachers.
The government had originally intended to standardise these marks, but, in light of concerns around the fairness of this process, these will now be the grades that the pupils are awarded and they will not undergo moderation.
Pupils are set to receive their results today (Thursday August 20).
Coun Mrs Patricia Bradwell OBE, Executive Member for Children's Services, added: "This has already been a difficult year for GCSE students, and it's disappointing that they have had to deal with the additional uncertainty around their results. Hopefully, the government's decision to use the teacher-awarded grades will help ease those concerns and provide a fairer reflection of the pupils' abilities.
"A lot of hard work has been put in, not just by the pupils, but schools and teachers as well, and this should be reflected in their results. I look forward to hearing about our local successes and wish all our pupils the very best for the future."
To help young people take their next step, Lincolnshire County Council and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership has collated information about the excellent career opportunities available in the county.
