Grantham area children enjoy learning to bake
Children from the Grantham area are learning how to bake bread, biscuits and a ranged of other home-cooked lovelies.
Led Gadd, a former lecturer at the National Bakery School at London's South Bank University, has begun running classes at Harlaxton Village Hall, just outside Grantham.
Lel told Nub News: "I have only this year started the 11-16 year old classes. So far the 2 classes that I've held have both had 12 children in each class. My future bookings also look very promising with plenty of repeat bookings.
"I came up with the idea because of how well my 4-11 year old classes went as they were always fully booked so thought I'd try with the older children.
"The children learn the following skills - weighing ingredients, mixing, dividing, depositing, moulding, shaping, tin / tray preparation, finishing, decorating. The children also gain knowledge about the ingredients that they use.
"In addition to the above the children learn about different breads, cakes, pastries and biscuits and the various methods used to produce these products.
"I do various classes for people of all ages and abilities. I also do work in colleges, schools, WI demonstrations, hen and stag parties, corporate and team building events as well as a monthly pop up bakery sale. If I do have any spare time I also like to do a bit of baking for local charities.
He added: "I'm a real baking enthusiast and have 35 years of experience of which nearly 20 years were spent lecturing at The National Bakery School, London South Bank University at degree level."
