It's Foster Care Fortnight and Lincolnshire Fostering Service has organised a recruitment event in Marston to boost the number of carers across the county.
The evening event at The Olde Barn Hotel in Marston, near Grantham, is being held tomorrow (21 May) from 7pm to 9pm for anyone interested in learning more about fostering.
"Nationally there is a shortage of foster carers, and Lincolnshire is no exception," says Councillor Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children's services.
"We are always on the lookout for more foster carers, ordinary people who do something extraordinary in giving children a loving home.
"Take time out to attend our event – it might be just the sort of worthwhile experience you are looking for."
While the fostering service has been successful in recruiting carers across the county over the past few years, more foster carers are needed, whether it's for teenagers, children with additional needs or brothers and sisters who need to be kept together.
Some children and young people can wait a long time for a placement leading them to miss out on the vital support and nurturing which most of us take for granted.
Philippa Gagliano, fostering and adoption marketing and recruitment officer, added: "Being a foster carer is both rewarding and satisfying.
"We believe that as far as possible Lincolnshire children should stay and live in the county.
"This can only happen if we have the foster carers available, so please come forward – we offer ongoing training, support and rewards."
