A team of experts has been set up to hold regular meetings and help vulnerable people with their housing issues.

The Vulnerable Adults Panel will support people in South Kesteven facing homelessness or those who are already homeless.

The idea is to share important information, safeguard the interests of the vulnerable and prevent homelessness.

SKDC Housing Options Team Leader Nik Pattison said the panel was formed to consolidate existing services and ensure the best results.

She said: "Having a housing issue can in itself make people more vulnerable. We work with the homeless, those at risk of becoming homeless, people who are rough sleeping or sofa surfing, those at risk of domestic violence issues and people with health, mental health, alcohol or drugs issues.

"The Vulnerable Adults Panel is made up of a range of agencies to provide a co-ordinated response for people who may have multiple disadvantages and complex needs."

Organisations involved include a number of internal SKDC departments, plus Framework, for tenancy support, and NACRO, which provides supported housing. The EDAN Lincs domestic abuse service, Lincolnshire County Council's adult social care department, the Wellbeing Lincs service, We Are With You (drugs, mental health and alcohol charity) and the Probation Service also take part in the monthly meetings and additional urgent case meetings.

Nik said: "Information sharing through the panel gets results and improves safeguarding to protect the most vulnerable from abuse and neglect. It also ensures they have accommodation and the support they need to help them once they have somewhere to live.

"Together we can give the best possible service to each individual, identify any gaps in the service and schedule regular follow-ups."
